First time trying this place. I go to the beach early and leave around 11am when everyone else starts to show up so this is a perfect little place for a casual early lunch on my way back. I ordered off the special board and choose the fish tacos. The fish of the day was cod. The fish was grilled on the flat top and the order comes with 3 tacos. The price was $10. Which was definitely reasonable. The portion size was good and everything was seasoned perfectly. Service was prompt and friendly. This seemed to be popular with the locals as each person that came in was greeted by first name and with a warm handshake (by who I’m going to assume was the owner). The place is pretty small, located in a strip mall right behind the Belmar train station. There are 4 picnic tables with umbrellas out front and about another 5 or so tables inside as well as a counter with stools. The front door was proped open and it was breezy and comfortable inside. They have a flat screen TV and the decor is pretty simple. It looked clean however I did not use the restroom.
I used to hit up 10th Ave. Burrito around the corner on early afternoons after the beach, but this may be my new spot (now if only they served margaritas!)

Hooked Cafe is my favorite breakfast/lunch cafe in the area. New items are their Hooked Omelet made with grilled shrimp and avocado.  Today I had their fresh homemade vegan veggie burger. This is a must have item.  By the way, their entire menu is a must have item.  Hats off to John, Peggy and Pedro for serving fresh quality food at affordable prices.   Enjoy!

My daughter found Hooked on YELP! We were coming from Essex, Monmouth & Ocean Counties & meeting for brunch. Wow! Outstanding food! Cute & friendly place…railroad station. Met Peggy, an owner, who is so warm & welcoming. Like meeting up w/an old friend again. Food was sooo delicious! Don’t miss her key lime pie either! We waited for our group to arrive & noticed people in & out with take-out orders. A great sign. Michelle, our waitress, was excellent & very attentive. Highly recommend this comfortable, friendly, neighborhood place. We’ll be back real soon.
